Date Palm

Date Palm

The Date Palm are really big here. They even have a festival every year. As you drive along you see a lot of date palms and they are full of dates. As you can see here they look like big balls hanging from the palm tree.

Plants

I am doing this post for all the plant lovers back home. I am truly surprised at all the plants that are growing here. In one of the photos it shows how they water the plants here. It is truly amazing that they can get anything to grow here because it is so hot, but they have figured out how it do it and the plants that survive look amazing.

Corniche

The Corniche is a road that goes along the water here is a picture of the lights along the sidewalk and the water is truely that blue. They have a family beach where we all can go but they also have men and woman only beaches. We will have to make sure we go to the right beach if we all want to go together. The sand is hard to get to because they are working all around the Corniche, but we plan to take Sydney to the beach in the fall when it is not so hot.

Sheikh Zoyed Mosque

The Sheikh Zoyed Mosque is the third largest Mosque in the world. As you drive up to the Mosque you see the white domes. The Mosque seems like it just goes for miles. The pictures may not do the Mosque justice, but it is truely amazing. You can tour the Mosque and we plan to do that sometime.

Malls

There are several malls here and at my surprise seems like everyone is there. At the hotel there is a mall behind us and Sydney and I go over there every day so they can clean the room and come back for lunch at the hotel. Sydney already knows Adu Dhabi shopping she tells me everyday shopping momma shopping . Looks like I have a shopper in the making. Thanks to my mom she learned the word Adu Dhabi, which I would think would be hard to say, but she tells us when we are driving Adu Dhabi we try to tell her we are here in Adu Dhabi. I am not sure if she understands, but she seems to be adjusting just fine. Today Sydney's new word is chicken nugget.

Day 9

Paul:

This post was done by me so blame all typos for this one my way. Ok so the blog, posting has been kind of slow because of technical difficulties with the sigt, for some reason everything kept showing up in arabic and made it very difficult to navigate anywhere on the website let alone try and post anything.

I love this picture. Thats right there is a negative floor!! Oh and there are other crazy buttons too like UG, UL, When I see that one again I'll make sure I snap it.

The black truck in this picture looks just like the rental that we have right now, since its a black pajero Mitsubishi.

This picture was taken on the way to Marina Mall. Which can be seen below

inside marina mall.

This is actually some sort of waterfall structure that is inside roughly 5 stories tall, its the tower that you can see from outside, however it is all enclosed within air conditioning.

I have also been meaning to add the following a picture of our hotel

day 1

We arrived in Abu Dhabi last night and the hotel is really nice. We went to the mall today and supermarket. At our surprise there are several American restaurants more than expected. We ate at Chili's for lunch and I had Pizza hut for dinner and Paul had Popeyes. We plan to look for a villa to rent tomorrow.

Paul: The two pictures taken here were from outside our hotel. I like the second picture because it shows the hundreds of sat dishes on one building.
The heat is typical of San Antonio heat however the humidity in the city pretty much hits you in the face as soon as you walk outside. My co-workers said not to expect any nice days until September :(
